TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS



Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:-



Road Subject of Proposed Closure

L-2042-0 (Part) Oliver Plunkett Street, Bandon

Phase I: Oliver Plunkett Street (L-2042-0) from its junction with Well Road (L-2058-0) to its junction with Brady’s Lane.

Phase II: Oliver Plunkett Street (L-2042-0) from its junction with Brady’s Lane to its   junction with L-2031-0 Casement Road.

Either “Phase I” or “Phase II” road closure will be in operation at any given time.



Period of Proposed Closure

From 07.00hrs on Monday 11th May, 2020 to 19.00hrs on Saturday 6th June, 2020

(24hr Closure)



Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Pipeline Construction



Alternative Routes

Traffic intending to travel east from Pearse Street (R-603-0) onto Oliver Plunkett Street (at its junction with St Finbarr Place), shall be diverted left onto St Finbarr Place (R603-0), then turn right onto the Glasslinn Road (R-586-0), then right onto Station Road (L-2061-0), then turn left onto Oliver Plunkett Street (L-2042-0). Follow the road to approach the road closure from the opposite side.



The stated diversion is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction to Oliver Plunkett Street junction at St Finbarr Place.



Traffic travelling south bound intending to turn left onto Oliver Plunkett Street Junction

at St Finbarr Place, shall continue straight ahead onto St Patricks Quay (L-2057-0), then turn right onto Bridge Lane (L-2055-0), then turn right onto Pearse Street (R-603-0) and then follow the above stated diversion route.



During “Phase I”, traffic from the west side of the road closure will be able to access Oliver Plunkett Street up until the Brady’s lane Junction

During both “Phase I” and “Phase II” access to Casement Road one way section of roadway will be accessible from Oliver Plunkett Street west approach.



Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-51-2020, not later than 5pm on 8th April, 2020. Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will close the following road for the period and reason specified below:-



Road Subject of Closure

R595 North Street, Skibbereen – from the Library Building to its junction with the R595 Main Street/L4216-15 The Square.



Period of Closure

From 09.00hrs Monday 20th April 2020 to 22.00hrs Friday 8th May 2020

(24hr Closure)



Reason for Closure

To facilitate the Installation of a Paved Pedestrian Crossing point as part of Skibbereen Public Realm Works.



Alternative Routes

The usual one way traffic system through the town is to be maintained.

For traffic travelling to Market Street follow the N71 to the Schull Road Roundabout, turn left onto Ilen Street, turn left onto Bridge Street, onto Main Street and turn right onto Market Street.

Traffic travelling to Cork Road Roundabout can follow Bridge Street, turn right onto Ilen Street and onto the N71 at the Schull Road Roundabout.



Access to Footpaths on both sides of the street will remain open so there will be full pedestrian access maintained to all premises along North Street for the duration of the closure.



Local access will also be maintained for the duration of the road closure.

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council will close the following road for the period and reason specified below:-





Road Subject of Closure

L-2011-127 (Part – from its junction with Kilbrogan Hill to its junction with Kilbrogan Street), Convent Hill, Bandon.



Period of Closure

From 07.00hrs Monday 27th April 2020 to 19.00hrs Saturday 6th June, 2020.

(24 Hr Closure)



Reason for Closure

To facilitate Pipeline Construction



Alternative Routes

Convent Hill traffic intending to access Kilbrogan Hill and town centre, shall be diverted west along Convent Hill (L-2011-127), follow onto L-2011-97, turn left at Tinkers Cross onto L-6023-0, at the next junction turn left while remaining on L-6023-0, at Carhoon House Cross turn left onto R586-25, follow onto R-586-12, at Emmet Row turn left to access Kilbrogan Hill (R-589-0) in order to pass the road closure from the opposite side.



Traffic originally intending to travel north along the R589-0 from the Convent Hill junction, shall follow the diversion as stated above to Tinkers Cross, then turn right onto L-6048-0, continue straight past Gurteen Cross onto L-2033-23, turn right onto R590-130 at Mishells Cross, at the next junction turn right onto R589-18, follow on to R589-0, as approaching the road closure from the north side.



The above stated diversions are applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Period of Closure

From 08.30hrs on Tuesday 14th April, 2020 to 17.00hrs on Friday 8th May, 2020

(Daily Closure)



Reason for Closure

To facilitate Restoration Improvement Roadworks from Walshtown Bridge to Oldcourt East.



Alternative Routes

Travelling Southbound from Castlelyons detour from Two Pot Cross via the L-3600 and L-3800 to Dungourney village. In Dungourney village join the R-627 to Midleton Town.



This alternative route is also applicable in reverse.



Local access maybe accommodated when works allow. The works are weather dependant and will be carried out over a numbers of days during the Temporary Road Closure period and at other times the road will remain open.

Period of Closure

From 08:00hrs on Tuesday 7th April, 2020 to 18.00hrs on Wednesday 8th April, 2020 (24hr Closure)



Reason for Closure

To facilitate Irish Water Sewer Connection



Alternative Routes

Traffic travelling North shall continue North West on the L1418, divert Northwards onto Upper Cork Street on the R513-137, turning eastwards at Lower Cork Street onto the Clonmel Road on the R665-15 to destination.



The description in reverse for travel in the opposite direction.



Local access will be facilitated where possible throughout the duration of the Road Closure.
